about

If you're reading this, I hope that 2023 is off to a refreshing start for you. I decided that I didn't want to slow down much at all during the holidays, so I'm continuing my ambitious series of alternate versions of "Take Care Of Yourself." Each one of them features a special guest.

This 2nd alternate version's guest is Ceschi, an underground hip-hop legend. Pay what you wish and download "Take Care Of Yourself (Ceschi Version)" right here. Some more links below.

If you follow punk rock or underground rap or or folk-punk — you might know the name “Ceschi.” He's a low key legend to myself and many others in the independent music sphere, most recently getting shoutouts in Rolling Stone and NME for teaming up with NOFX's lead singer Fat Mike in their new band Codefendants. I’ve been lucky enough to get to know Ceschi as a dear friend the last half of a decade.

During the days of Holes In Our Stories, he invited me out on tour in a few cities in the midwest, made it possible for me to press vinyl for the first time, and played some shows that blew me away & inspired me deeply.

So let me just say — I am proud to have this version of Take Care Of Yourself out in the world. And his verse really brings it.

"Must say it’s one of my personal favorite verses I recorded in 2022" - Ceschi

Please bump the song on Spotify and Apple Music throughout the weekend, and I hope you love it!

We are not slowing down this year or ever…
Much love & happy new year
- D.O.

Yo
I'm just being honest man
After every song
I could take a lie detector test
And I would pass
This is a true story
This is not an allegory
No first aid kit needed
Put on my mic I just bleed
I think I'm sick of this climate
It rained on all my dreams
But I saw a ghost
Through moth bite clothes
He haunts me when I sleep
Two fingers to the western sky
I'm waving them like, peace
Don't be placing me in no niche
Don't go toast to me in no bar
If I don't die young then so be it
I'm still a poet at heart
Do not go gentle into that good night
Dylan you came too far
And don't ever lose sight
Of who you are, are
I'm thankful for my English teacher
Taught me how to breathe
God thanks for my depression
Cuz it taught me to be deep
I learned from all the nights
When I would try to get to sleep
On someone's hand-me-down family couch
You better believe
I went from broke and broke
To broken to whole and hopeful
To how's he from a sleepy town
With eyes both wide
So soulful
I know
The lonely road up will go
To no ovals
Go see his show, fo sho
I suppose
The most quotable, huh
That's just the shit that's inside me
Isn't it ironic?
The Morrissette up
The more the myth will define me
If being lonely is a drug
I guess I live with sobriety
And I live with it kindly
Take care

Been months since
I slept in my own bed
Unsure if I’ll ever have another home again
More surreal than cerebral
Swimming seas of fragile egos
Saying “NO” don’t make you evil
But it’s harder than my head
Friends stopped talking to me
Not sure what I did or said
Just got older
Blood colder
Juggled Fabergé eggs
Some lost battles

To the bottle

And the needle
We can be such
Feeble creatures
Counted blessings numbers ended negative

Please never go gentle
Keep learning from the obstacles
At times it feels like
We’re stuck in a pattern
But try your best to not settle
All I want is these beliefs to be flexible
No Jesus piece and no devil
When I was teen I used to

Scream uncontrollably
Thinking I was a rebel
Today I’m grateful to be getting old
I’m
Thanking all these broken bones
I

Know adulation alone
Won’t
Make individuals grow
Right
Call it whatever you want to
But try to be honest
Been fighting for autonomy
Cuz I gotta be me
And that’s all that I actually need
Peace

Take care of yourself
Don't ever relax
Stop turning away
Don't ever look back
And burn all those bridges everyone has
Until you finally learn the way to

Take care of yourself
Don't ever relax
Stop turning away
Don't ever look back
And burn all those bridges everyone has
Until you finally learn the way to

Take care of yourself
Don't ever relax
Stop turning away
Don't ever look back
And burn all those bridges everyone has
Until you finally learn the way to

Take care of yourself
Don't ever relax
Stop turning away
Don't ever look back
And burn all those bridges everyone has
Until you finally learn the way to
A few old flames never hurt anybody

Shoutout to all my friends
Shoutout to everybody who helped me
With this tape right here
Everybody who helped me obsess over the name
For like five years
And make the album art in my room
With a piece of paper and a pair of scissors
Shoutout to naebird on the beat
Shoutout to my dusty ass room…

Yo
I'll see you guys next time
